Pembina North Community School –

United We Achieve Excellence!
Pembina North Community School Principal Darcie Eamor, along with Associate Principal Daryl Chattargoon and Inclusive Education Coordinator Kendra Seatter, provided an overview of the school’s education plan focus — literacy, numeracy, student diversity and enhancing learning opportunities for students through student/staff relationships. See pages 2-3 of the meeting minutes for details.

Nearing its fourth anniversary, Pembina North Community School was formed under the consolidation of the former W.R. Frose School, Jarvie School and Dapp School. Throughout the years of building new traditions together, the belief statements developed by the transition team four years ago continue to be relevant. United, PNCS is achieving excellence!

Board sets transportation fees for 2018-19
For the third consecutive year, division transportation fees will not be increasing.

  • In-town transportation fees will remain at $350/year
  • Rural transportation fees for students leaving their attendance area will be $450/year
  • The fee for alternate bus stops will remain at $50 per student per year. However, if the alternate site request also requires the payment of an in-town or rural transportation fee, the alternate site fee will be waived.

Board adopts new Long Service Awards and Recognition policy
The school board appreciates the employees and trustees who contribute to the success of the division. In their new policy, employees serving the division for 5 years will be awarded a PHPS travel tumbler. Employees serving the division for 10 years will receive a $50 certificate to be used at the soon to be established Pembina Hills Public Schools online store. The amount of the certificate will increase by $25 for each additional 5 years of service. As a sign of appreciation for all employees, the Board will sponsor an employee lunch each year.

Consider nominating those that make a difference for an exemplary service award
“It takes a village to raise a child.”  While this phrase may be overused, it is so true! Students in our schools are fortunate to have so many caring individuals and groups who provide exemplary service.

Consider nominating an employee, contractor, parent volunteer, or community member for an exemplary service award. Eligibility criteria information and nomination forms are available here.

The next school board meeting is on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the PHPS Regional Office in Barrhead starting at 9:30 a.m. The public is welcome to attend.
