Citizenship Award Winner—Audrey Arola

June 18th, 2021

Audrey Arola is a Grade 6 student at Busby School. She was nominated for the Citizenship Award by Teacher Jim Schaffer.

Audrey takes her responsibilities as a student very seriously, listening intensively to instructions and uses what she has learned in her assignments. She demonstrates responsibility by completing all her tasks in class as well as all her homework. Audrey strictly follows the school rules and routines including restrictions and procedures due to COVID. She leads by example and wears her mask, sanitizes often, and maintains social distance.

Audrey helps and supports others in her class, making sure everyone is on task, participating, and doing their share of the work. Although she is considered quiet, she is able to take charge and provide her input when needed. She works very well in group situations. Those around her tend to be more on task and do not ask for instructions to be repeated.

Schaffer says, “It is hard to find a part of the day where Audrey doesn’t have a smile on her face. You can tell she is smiling behind her mask!” Every morning Audrey eagerly greets all her Grade 6 friends. She has a positive attitude and is optimistic about every new opportunity.

Audrey has a tireless work habit and as an avid reader, drawer, and gamer, she recently discovered the world of Anime. This has led her to work on her drawing skills and share her reading and viewing experiences with her friends. She works towards goals, continuously practicing her drawing during her free time and even uses her recess time to practice. During Art, she soaks up every lesson and has become a perfectionist when creating art. This commitment has allowed her to create some of the most beautiful art pieces.

One of Audrey’s best attributes is her ability to listen to others. She is conscious of listening carefully to others and responding accordingly. All her Grade 6 friends know they can share with Audrey and that she is genuinely interested.

The school board is pleased to present Audrey with the Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community. Congratulations!
