Citizenship Award Winner—Adeline McGinn

March 11th, 2021

Adeline McGinn is a Grade 3 student at Barrhead Elementary School. She was nominated for the Citizenship Award by Teacher Arlene Bujold.

Adeline demonstrates responsibility by following through with any task, project or assignment. She helps and supports others by going above and beyond to support new students, ensuring they feel welcome. She has the heart to help others and be a friend to all and when any student is left out and in need of a partner, she always invites them into her group both inside the classroom in working situations as well as outside on the playground.

Always happy and upbeat, Adeline maintains a positive attitude towards her learning so that she can master each concept. Even when she is given a messy job like bottle recycling, she does it without any complaints. Adeline demonstrates kindness to others by including others in her work and play groups. Bujold says, “She never plays favorites nor does she discriminate against others.”

Adeline consistently demonstrates respect for others even when they may be saying unkind or unwanted words to her. She has an empathetic heart and wants her peers to be happy and thrive within our classroom and on the playground. She shows concern for others and does not want anyone to be excluded. When finished her work, she always looks for jobs within the classroom and will ensure they are done well. Adeline will sacrifice the opportunity to play math games or work one on one with other classmates. Bujold concludes by saying, “She is dependable, and a wonderful member of her class.”

The school board is pleased to present Adeline with the Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community. Congratulations!
