Citizenship Award Winner—Amelia Henkelman

May 19th, 2022

Amelia Henkelman is a Grade 6 student at Dunstable School. She was nominated for the Citizenship Award by Principal Tammy Tkachuk.

Amelia demonstrates responsibility and maturity. She understands the importance of following through on tasks and always puts her best into the work she does. Many students look up to Amelia and the school staff trust her to make good choices and serve as a role model.

Amelia has a compassionate and empathetic nature, and she frequently helps and supports others in the classroom and around the school. Without being asked, she will often help hand things out or set up learning materials. She loves working with younger children and is a wonderful Kinder Buddy. If a child is in need of help or support out on the playground, Amelia will step up.

In addition to being a thoughtful and considerate young lady, Amelia is also a dedicated student. She works towards her goals, and when she sets her mind to something, she makes sure she gets it done. Tkachuk says, “Amelia’s diligence and perseverance will serve her well in the future.”

Kindness and compassion are two of Amelia’s biggest strengths. She often thinks of others and what they need to feel included. When a younger student needs help putting on their boots, Amelia will lend a hand. If someone is sad or feeling lonely, she is there to listen and help put a smile on their face. Tkachuk says, “Amelia is a friend to everyone and truly an example of what citizenship is all about.”

The school board is pleased to present Amelia with the Citizenship Award in recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community. Congratulations!
