Citizenship Award Winner—Caitlin West

August 23rd, 2021

Caitlin West is a Grade 7 student at Vista Virtual School. She was nominated for the Citizenship Award by Teacher Michelle Blagdon.

Caitlin is a motivated and independent student with a great love of learning. Her positive attitude towards all learning activities makes her an asset to any virtual classroom. Caitlin takes responsibility for assigned projects, seeks clarification when needed and signs up for extra sessions to test her knowledge and skills. She has a very organized approach to her goals—she sets targets and works very hard to reach them

One of Caitlin’s goals was to finish all her courses in May while maintaining her academic standards. Even though Caitlin’s family needed more assistance with her two younger sisters when her mom returned to work midway through the school year, she achieved her May school completion goal the last week in April.

Caitlin is also very active in her community. She is an active member of her dance community and collaborates with fellow dancers on routines; she takes part in junior lifeguarding and can often be seen bottle-feeding foster kittens until they are old enough to be returned to the local shelter where the hope is that they will be adopted. Caitlin helps and supports others and understands the importance of being involved in her community.

The school board is pleased to present Caitlin with the Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community. Congratulations!
