Citizenship Award Winner—Carmen Larsen

March 24th, 2021

Carmen Larsen is a Grade 3 student at École Westlock Elementary School. She was nominated for the Citizenship Award by Teacher Linda Arndt.

Carmen is a model student who demonstrates a positive attitude towards her friends and adults. In the classroom, Carmen accepts responsibility graciously and is able to help others in a way that portrays leadership, honors individuality and values worthiness. She wants what is best for everyone while being true to herself and her beliefs.

Carmen has an excellent work ethic and does not take knowledge for granted. She works towards her goals diligently—if her nose is not in a book reading and learning, she is completing units, studying about creatures or sharing what she knows about animals during class discussions. Sometimes asking for extra activities, she often completes assignments over and above what is required. Carmen is driven to show her personal best in written work and strives to try new experiences with confidence.

Carmen helps and supports others by assisting with projects in the classroom when individual assignments have been completed. She shows patience and respects the contributions of others with genuine care and consideration.

Carmen displays kindness to others, offering to help her classmates when they are struggling. She shares ideas that assist in problem solving situations, and is very polite and respectful towards all classmates. Kindness and caring is a part of Carmen that comes naturally. Her quick smile and her way of giving others a sense of belonging warms the heart.

The school board is pleased to present Carmen with the Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community. Congratulations!
