Citizenship Award Winner — Cole Marsh-Depelteau

May 31st, 2023

Cole is a Grade 6 student at Busby School. He was nominated for the Citizenship Award by his teacher Jim Schaffer.

Cole’s positive attitude shines through when he is playing sports. He has been the heart and soul of the Busby Bobcats soccer, volleyball, and basketball teams. Even if his team is having a tough game, Cole cheers his teammates on and encourages them to continue to try their best. He is constantly giving high fives and acknowledging his teammate’s good plays. During soccer season he was rock solid in the net and never backed down even when he was getting peppered with shots. It is great to see him embrace his leadership role.

One great moment this year was around Christmas. Cole snuck into the kindergarten room and proceeded to entertain the kindergarten students with his antics. I heard he was dancing and rolling around on their command. He had them all laughing. This wasn’t the first time Cole has proven he can entertain the Kindergarteners. Last year, he joined a group of boys and serenaded the kindergartners with the sweet sounds of their ukeleles. Cole loves to share his kindness to others.

Cole is a very laid-back person but he ensures he is there for his friends and teammates. He can be depended upon and not many people know this but Cole postponed a trip to Kelowna to attend the year-end soccer tournament hosted by Busby. He ensures that all his teammates make it to practice and are ready to play at all times.

The school board is pleased to present Cole with the Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions he makes in his school and community.

Congratulations Cole!
