Citizenship Award Winner — Emily Edroff

February 23rd, 2023

Emily Edroff is a Grade 2 student at Eleanor Hall School. She was nominated for the Citizenship Award by her Teacher, Jill Rauscher.

Being a responsible student, Emily always comes to school prepared. She hands in her agenda every morning, reminds her teacher of important events, and helps her classmates stay on task with gentle reminders. She is responsible for her learning and never gives up. This is especially true when she is learning something new. She will try it one way and if that doesn’t work, she will regroup and try a different strategy. She asks questions to make sure she is understanding and does this until she has a solid grasp of what she is learning.

Emily took a fellow student ‘under her wing’. She helped and supported him in making sure he got ready for the day, that he was following the class daily routine, got from place to place within the school safely, and gave words of encouragement along the way.

Emily is willing to try just about anything with a smile and a positive attitude. She will not back down from a challenge and continues to try until she gets things right. Her teacher notes that during math, when Emily works at problems she will not give up until she finds the correct answer.

Emily is very aware of how people are feeling. She noticed a friend who was feeling sad at recess and tried her best to make her friend feel better. When that didn’t work, Emily went to the teacher so that they could try. Emily stayed with her friend for the rest of the day, offering kind words.

The school board is pleased to present Emily with the Citizenship Award in recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community. Congratulations!
