Gavin Borris is a Grade 9 student at Eleanor Hall School. He was nominated for the Citizenship Award by Teacher Michelle Savoie.
As a member of the school’s Student Wellness Action Team, Gavin inquired about getting a slushie machine, as a long term fundraiser. After receiving approval, he offered to manage the small business. Gavin demonstrates responsibility by maintaining the equipment, finding a team to help him, managing inventory and ordering stock, and ensuring that the entire operation runs smoothly.
Gavin strives for academic achievement and has maintained honors throughout junior high. He works towards his goals, and when he misses class time, he makes sure to catch up on any missed notes, continues to get all of his assignments completed and maintains his high marks in his subjects.
Gavin eagerly volunteers to help out and when called upon to do various jobs around the school, he does them thoroughly and with pride. He and a friend are in charge of changing the school sign, and he also helps out moving items to and from the school sheds. Gavin is dependable and staff can rely on him for many jobs around the school.
The school board is pleased to present Gavin with the Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions he makes in his school and community. Congratulations!
