Citizenship Award Winner—Hayden Rau

June 16th, 2022

Hayden Rau is a Grade 9 student at Pembina North Community School. He was nominated for the Citizenship Award by Teacher Carling Montgomery.

Hayden is very responsible. He is always prepared for his classes and does what is needed and asked of him. He doesn’t need to be asked to help out when there is a job to do. He is the first one there and the last to leave.

Hayden is a leader within our school, especially when it comes to sports. He helps and supports others as is more than willing to share his knowledge with his peers. As an accomplished curler, he helped to teach his teammates the skills required to play a game and cheered them on as they learned. As the school’s Junior Boys Volleyball captain, Hayden also led the young team to a silver medal at zones. He led both on and off the court in a very positive fashion, motivating his teammates with his passion for sport.

With a positive attitude and always a smile on his face, Hayden has a great sense of humor and he raises the spirits of everyone around him. He is a leader and can be found spending quality time with students from each grade in the Junior High. Students flock to him because he is kind-hearted and good-natured and displays kindness to others.

Hayden is always respectful of others, whether they are peers or adults. In class, he likes to add on to what others have said and expand the conversation, rather than shooting down their ideas if he does not agree. Hayden is a huge help to the school staff. He is dependable and can always be counted on to help with a project, to rise to his leadership roles, and to achieve each goal that he sets.

This is the second time that Hayden has been nominated for the Citizenship Award, which was previously awarded in 2019, when he was in Grade 6. The school board is pleased to present Hayden with the Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions he makes in his school and community. Congratulations!
