Citizenship Award Winner—Jada Forbes

May 25th, 2020

Jada Forbes is a Grade 9 student at Pembina North Community School. She was nominated for the Citizenship Award by Principal Raime Drake.

Jada is a diligent student who demonstrates responsibility in many ways. She works hard and asks questions so that she can be as successful as possible. She is patient when working with others and will resist giving answers in order to allow someone else the opportunity. She never criticize others for differing opinions or answers that may conflict with her own. Mrs. Drake also describes Jada as a shining star in Career and Technology Foundations courses, with an incredible willingness to learn and try new things. She helps and supports others by sharing her learning with others—for example she helped her grandparents build a shed.

Jada shows concern for others and uses humour as a way to help those around her feel better. Since the beginning of distance learning, she sits in front of a blackboard with a new quote every day. It has really helped to lighten the mood for her peers and teachers. She also volunteered to be a captain of the school’s Wellness Selfie Challenge for the month of May to get her peers moving and help find joy in each day.

Jada has a positive attitude and is a leader on the school basketball team and during intramurals she goes out of her way to accept everyone around her and provides great feedback to her teammates. Jada is dependable and leads by example. School staff can always count on her to not only follow the rules but to inspire others to follow her lead.

The school board is pleased to present Jada with the Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community. Congratulations!
