Citizenship Award Winner — Jewel K.

Jewel is a Grade 5 student at Eleanor Hall School. She was nominated for a Citizenship Award by teacher Tara Thue.

Jewel demonstrates responsibility in always being prepared for class. She completes her homework on a regular basis and with solid effort. She takes her school life seriously having near perfect attendance, completing homework on time and puts in extra time to study for tests. Jewel takes care of school property and is always willing to clean up the class even staying after all the students have left the class to sweep the floor and straighten out desks. Her kindness shows each day and is the first to help out a student who has dropped their pencil box or needs to have their desks cleaned.

Her positive attitude means she always has a smile on her face. She is described as a kind and empathetic person who is attentive in class, works hard and encourages other to do their best. She is enthusiastic and engaged in learning opportunities and is happy for others when they are successful. She gets along with everyone and draws people in with her infectious personality. 

She shows respect, listening to others’ points of view and in dealing with conflict in a very diplomatic way and follows rules closely. Many kindergarten and grade 1 students are excited when they see Jewel because of the relationships that she has built with them.

She is dependable and can be relied on to complete tasks and help out other students when needed. If a job needs to be done, Jewel is often asked to help out because people know that she will do her best to complete any job she is given.

The Board of Trustees is pleased to present Jewel with a Citizenship Award in recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community.
