Citizenship Award Winner—Kage Carson

June 8th, 2020

Kage Carson is a Grade 4 student at Busby School. He was nominated for the Citizenship Award by teacher Erin Harder.

Kage consistently demonstrates responsibility for his schoolwork, even while playing on an elite hockey team, which takes him out of school early on many days. Maintaining both commitments show his effective time management and perseverance as it has never affected his marks or quality of work.  He helps and supports others and is the first student to go help with the kindergarten class at every recess. He helps them to get dressed in the winter, reminds them of playground rules, and makes sure they get back to class safely at the end of recess.

Kage is very kind and caring towards his twin sisters in Grade 3, as they are in the same split class.   He has been an amazing big brother and cares for and supports them everyday. Kage has also become friends with a little boy in kindergarten who was struggling. Kage has continued to stay in contact with this boy, even during COVID, through audio and video chat. It is a beautiful friendship that is admired by all of the staff in the school.

The school board is pleased to present Kage with the Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions he makes in his school and community. Congratulations!
