Keanan Huot graduated from R. F. Staples School in June 2022. He was born into a farming family near Vimy where he learned the value of working hard and perseverance. His dedication to his academics is evident, taking responsibility to keep his grades up and balancing them with his extra-curricular activities, working and social demands. At a young age, he learned the importance of building relationships. He also recognized the satisfaction it brought him to do well in school and in helping others such as using his academic strengths to tutor a friend in math.

He is always working towards his goals, no matter what they are. With the desire he developed in caring for animals, Keanan notes he always dreamt of being a veterinarian, which is not hard to imagine with growing up on a farm. It wasn’t until he took a mechanics class at R.F. Staples School that a new spark ignited. He discovered a love for mechanical design which brought him to consider a career in engineering. Keanan shifted his goals, now attending the University of Alberta engineering program. He is a visionary, eager to play a role in pushing the boundaries of math and science to shape pieces of the future and we are excited for what his future holds.

The Board of Trustees is pleased to present Keanan with a Citizenship Award in recognition of the positive contributions he makes in his school and community.
