Citizenship Award Winner — Lina Kafka

Lina is described as hard-working, dedicated and having a passion for excellence.

She played on the junior high volleyball and basketball teams while taking on the responsibility of coaching the elementary girl’s volleyball and basketball teams. She managed practices, coached games, and maintained academic excellence with impressive ease.  Her quiet leadership shines as a coach, encouraging players, celebrating their successes and helping them grow. Lina approaches every game with a positive attitude, demonstrating sportsmanship and respect towards other teams. Her leadership on and off the court has left a lasting impact on peers and younger students and her positive reinforcement led to fantastic effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship. 

As an athlete, Lina led the Junior High Girl’s Basketball team to a Tier 2 championship, a milestone not achieved since 1998. Her drive to improve set a high standard for everyone. Her skill, determination, and sportsmanship are admired by teammates and coaches alike.

Academically, Lina seeks feedback to improve, planning and working towards her future goals in high school and beyond. Her maturity shows in her willingness to accept constructive criticism and her desire to excel through dedicated practice. She is a role model who inspires those around her to strive for their best and will undoubtedly achieve great things in the future.

The school board is pleased to present Lina with the Citizenship Award in recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community.
