Growing up in a small town, Phillip understands the importance of community support and volunteerism. For the past six years, Phillip has taken on volunteer responsibilities in the school lunchroom, mastering various roles and training new volunteers, ensuring the lunchroom operates smoothly and that new helpers feel confident in their abilities. Beyond the school walls, Phillip has extended his sense of duty to the community, volunteering at numerous catering events, consistently stepping up to prepare venues, handling dishwashing duties and ensuring each event runs seamlessly. He also helps collect Food Bank donations through various school and community events.
Phillip and his family are active participants in supporting their community through clean up initiatives, such as Highway Clean up. They take it upon themselves to clean up the gully surrounding their home each year, removing garbage that accumulates during the winter not only to help beautify the area but also to protect the local wildlife.
Phillip’s support for others is also evident in his frequent visits to the local gym, where he spends time mentoring new student gym users, guiding them on proper workout techniques to avoid injuries and build effective workout plans. Known as the ‘go-to’ person for gym advice for younger students, Phillip emphasizes the importance of gym etiquette, fostering a respectful and supportive environment.
The school board is pleased to present Phillip with the Citizenship Award in recognition of the positive contributions he makes in his school and community.
Congratulations Phillip!
