August 23rd, 2021

Zairyn Mierau is a Grade 7 student at Vista Virtual School. He was nominated for the Citizenship Award by Teacher Michelle Blagdon.

Zairyn is a motivated and independent student with a great love of learning. His enthusiastic approach to all learning activities makes him an asset to any virtual classroom. Zairyn always tries his best. He demonstrates responsibility by completing all assigned projects, seeks clarification when needed and signs up for extra sessions to test his knowledge and skills.

Zaryn is very active in his community. He volunteers at the Calgary Yacht Club Summer camps, and he is excited to take on more responsibility within the club this year. He does a minimum of 10 hours of volunteering work at the club. He also demonstrates kindness by volunteering his time to help out at a Manitoba Bike Fundraiser for a child in need of costly medical care. Zairyn understands the importance of helping and supporting others and being involved in his community.

The school board is pleased to present Zairyn with the Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions he makes in his school and community. Congratulations!
