Tate McNelly and Dave Sawatzky receive Exemplary Community Partner Awards

For over eight years, successful businessmen Tate McNelly and Dave Sawatzky have walked into Barrhead Composite High School (BCHS) classrooms as approachable mentors, dedicating themselves to the school’s Career and Life Management (CALM) program.

Tate, with his warm demeanour and wealth of professional experience, would guide students through the nuances of a handshake, the power of eye contact and the importance of clear, concise answers. Dave, known for his infectious enthusiasm, would challenge students to think on their feet, emphasizing the value of problem-solving and critical thinking in a work environment.

Both Tate and Dave have opened their doors to students, offering valuable on-the-job training, providing real-world experience and allowing students to translate classroom lessons into practical skills. They’ve nurtured young talent, fostering a sense of responsibility, teamwork and a strong work ethic.

This award recognizes their commitment to the youth of Barrhead and their inspiring impact on the community
