Wendi Nakonechny receives the Exemplary Support Services Award

June 23rd, 2021

Wendi Nakonechny is a librarian at R.F. Staples Secondary School and has been with Pembina Hills for 20 years.

Wendi goes above and beyond the typical duties of a librarian. While her job description would define her time between librarian and administrative, she does not let paper interfere with her powerful ability to build relationships with those who enter her domain.

Wendi provides impeccably organized library services and her record keeping and textbook rescuing save R.F. Staples considerable replacement costs. She has taken a leadership role in the division to encourage standardization through professional development and inservice related to student record keeping.

Wendi’s most important skill is building relationships with RF Students. Her collection of alumni students’ Library Etiquette posters provide humour and engagement when students wonder how to make the Etiquette wall of fame. The photo gallery of alumni students is often the spark of conversations between staff about students’ progress since leaving high school. Fond and heartfelt memories are brought to mind often when fellow colleagues need it most.

The RF library is a one stop shop for reading, textbooks, quiet work time all while being a safe and caring space for students to grow both academically and personally. Her ability to recognize students and offer a warm smile is inviting to all who enter the library.

Wendi’s warm smile invites people into a wonderful learning environment where everyone can find what they need in a library and a librarian. RF Staples is truly blessed to have Wendi as a member of the school community!

Congratulations!
