Regional Office –

Federal Education Funding for COVID-19

Pembina Hills School Division will receive $2.016 Million in Federal Education Funding to be directed towards costs associated with COVID-19. This funding may only be used towards specific expenses, such as:

  • Staffing
  • Adapting learning spaces and personal protective equipment
  • Cleaning and safety considerations for schools and buses
  • Supports for special needs students
  • Online learning and teacher training

An additional $12 Million in Federal Education Funding will be distributed to school divisions who experience increased enrolment in their online schools. A portion of this funding is expected to be distributed to Pembina Hills for increased enrollment at Vista Virtual School.

Livestreaming of Board Meetings

The Board of Trustees voted unanimously to livestream board meetings for the remainder of the calendar year. This ensures that members of the public have access to meetings while we comply with COVID-19 gathering restrictions.

Opening Day Message to Staff

Staff were welcomed back to school with a virtual message from Georgette Reed, a former olympian and elite athlete. The message focused on adversity, adapting to change and self-care — an appropriate message for this year’s return to school.

The next school board meeting is at the Regional Office on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 starting at 9:00 a.m. Members of the public are invited to view a livestream of the meeting on our website.
