Jemiah Sarmiento is a grade 12 student who is graduating from Barrhead Composite High School (BCHS).
It is with great pride that we recognize Jemiah as one of this year’s Citizenship Award recipients for BCHS, for demonstrating exceptional leadership, community spirit, and a deep commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others.
Throughout their time at BCHS, Jemiah has shown unwavering dedication to supporting others and fostering inclusion. Whether volunteering at community events, mentoring fellow students, or helping lead school-wide initiatives such as the STARS Wake-A-Thon and anti-bullying campaigns, Jemiah has consistently worked to bring people together and create a welcoming, supportive environment.
A champion of optimism, Jemiah approaches challenges with a positive mindset and a can-do attitude. Even in the face of setbacks, she models resilience and turns these experiences into opportunities to learn and grow.
Equally important is Jemiah’s gift for listening. Whether it’s offering a supportive ear to a friend or ensuring student voices are heard in leadership meetings, she has built meaningful connections throughout the school and beyond, demonstrating that citizenship is as much about empathy and understanding as it is about action.
The school board is pleased to present Jemiah with the Citizenship Award in recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community.
Congratulations Jemiah!
