The school board is pleased to present the Citizenship Award to Mason Dormer, a Grade 9 student at R.F. Staples Secondary School, in recognition of the positive contributions he makes to his school and community.
Citizenship isn’t just about following rules – it’s about the energy you bring into a room and the way you treat the people around you. Today, we are recognizing a student who truly lives out those values each and every day.
Mason demonstrates a strong sense of responsibility in everything he does. Whether he is focused on a challenging class assignment or taking full ownership of his learning, he consistently works hard and gives his very best effort. He shows us what it means to take pride in your work and to stay committed, even when things aren’t easy.
What really sets Mason apart, however, is his reliability. If there’s a job that needs to be done, he is often the first to step forward. From taking on classroom responsibilities without being asked, to helping out on the court by scorekeeping or refereeing basketball games, Mason can always be counted on. When he says he’ll be there, you know the job will get done – and done well.
Beyond his work ethic, Mason brings something even more important to our school: kindness. He treats everyone with fairness and respect, always looking for ways to include others or brighten someone’s day with a kind word or encouraging gesture. His positive attitude helps create a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone around him.
Mason is a role model, a dependable helper, and a truly positive force in our school community.
Congratulations Mason!
