Annika Aliman receives Citizenship Award

June 10th, 2026

Pembina Hills School Division is proud to recognize Annika Aliman of Barrhead Composite High School as the recipient of the Citizenship Award for the positive contributions she makes to her school and community.

If you want to know what a model citizen looks like, you only have to look at how Annika spends her day.

It starts with something simple: a positive attitude.  No matter how challenging the lessons become, Annika never complains.  Instead, she meets every challenge with a smile and gives her very best in every class.  She has big goals for her future, and she works toward them with a quiet determination that inspires everyone around her.

But what truly sets Annika apart is the way she treats the people around her.  She is often the first to hold a door open or offer a kind word.  When a classmate is struggling with an assignment, Annika is the one who steps in to help.  She listens – not just to her teachers, but to her peers as well – making sure everyone’s voice is heard and never speaking over others.

Annika is someone you can always count on.  Her assignments are handed in on time, she shows up when she is needed, and she leads by example.  Most importantly, she has the courage to be honest.  Even when things are difficult, she refuses to take shortcuts or compromise her integrity.  She chooses to do what is right, every single time.

From supporting friends in their home lives to being a dependable leader in the classroom, Annika shows us that being a good citizen isn’t about being the loudest voice in the room.  It’s about being the most kind, the most honest, and the most reliable.

Congratulations Annika!
