Work continues on the modernization and right-sizing project of Barrhead Composite High School (BCHS). While Mother Nature has caused a few delays along the way, progress continues across the site—and it’s becoming more visible every day!
Phase 1 Recap
Phase One began in July 2025 and is expected to be completed in late spring 2026. This phase includes the east gym expansion, utility, mechanical, electrical, and roof work to the mezzanine, former changeroom and fitness (fit pit) areas, junior high classrooms and washrooms, and work on the former senior high Construction Lab.
Inside and out, a lot is happening! The East Gym has reached a major milestone with a water-tight roof. Exterior work is underway with outer layers, more roofing, installation and window installation coming together. Nearby, spaces like the CTS Woods area and Fit Pit are being transformed with structural work, mechanical systems, and foundational pieces in place. Plumbing is also in place for the junior high bathrooms.
In other parts of the school, you can really start to picture the finished spaces. Classrooms are taking shape with wall mudding, taping and painting beginning, bringing a fresh look to many areas. Work is ongoing in the Student Services offices and the gym lobby area.
