Busby School Approved to receive Modular Classroom

June 5th, 2026

Pembina Hills is pleased to announce that Busby School has been approved to receive a modular classroom through Alberta’s 2026-2027 Modular Classroom Program.

The modular classroom will increase the school’s capacity by approximately 30 student spaces, helping to address ongoing enrolment pressures. With utilization rates hovering around 100 percent and enrolment expected to remain strong, the additional classroom space will provide greater flexibility to support a positive learning environment for students and staff while accommodating future growth.

On behalf of the Pembina Hills School Board, we are grateful to the Government of Alberta for investing in the future of our students through the addition of a modular classroom at Busby School. As our student population continues to grow, this new learning space will help ensure that students continue to learn in a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where they can thrive and succeed. We appreciate the ongoing support of Alberta Education and Childcare and Alberta Infrastructure in helping school divisions respond to enrolment pressures and capacity challenges,” said Superintendent Brett Cooper. “This additional classroom space will provide greater flexibility for Busby School, helping us meet current needs while planning for future growth and continuing to support positive learning environments for students and staff.”

The modular classroom was included as part of the Government of Alberta’s investment in modular classrooms across the province. The government will provide the modular classroom structure and funding for delivery and installation.

If project timelines proceed as anticipated, the modular classroom is expected to be installed and ready for use by the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

Additional information will be shared with families and the school community as project details become available.
