Division Office ~
Board Work Plan Approved
The Board has approved its 2025-2026 Work Plan—a roadmap that outlines priorities, key meeting dates, important decisions, and community events for the year ahead. This plan is an important resource that helps the Board stay focused, organized, and connected with our school communities.
Grant Funding Update
After the board approved the annual budget for the 2025-2026 school year, Alberta Education announced an increase to its Services and Supports grant funding. In recognition of the increasing costs of supporting classroom operations, grants for early childhood services, specialized learning support, First Nations, Métis, and Inuit education, English as an additional language, and refugee students were increased by 2.68%, bringing the total increase for these lines to 5% over 2024-2025 funding levels.
This grant rate increase translates to an additional $184,966 in funding for Pembina Hills. The board has decided to direct these new funds to the Student Services department to fund additional educational assistants and other support staff, including Indigenous liaisons, psychologists, speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, and social workers.
Support Staff Employment Terms Reviewed
The Board reviewed the PHSD Employee Handbook and the Non-Union Staff Terms and Conditions of Employment for the 2025-2026 school year. These documents outline important information about working conditions, benefits, and policies for Division employees.
The handbook covers topics like vacation time, sick leave, professional development opportunities, and health and safety requirements. It helps ensure all employees understand their rights and responsibilities.
