Update – September 24, 2025
Tentative Agreement Reached between ATA and the Province
A tentative agreement has been reached between the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA) and the Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA).
Both parties are now entering an expedited ratification process. ATA members will vote on the tentative agreement from September 27–29, 2025, with a final decision on ratification expected no later than October 1, 2025.
It is important to note that the ATA’s strike notice remains in effect until the ratification process is complete.
We will provide another update as new information becomes available.

Overview
Teachers across Alberta are currently in provincial bargaining. Negotiations are taking place between the Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA), representing Alberta’s teachers and school administrators, and the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), representing the Government of Alberta and all public, separate, and Francophone school divisions.
Individual school divisions, including Pembina Hills School Division, are not directly involved in this process. Items such as teacher salaries and benefits are negotiated centrally at the provincial level.
We deeply value the contributions of teachers and all staff in supporting student learning, and we respect the provincial bargaining process. We remain hopeful that an agreement can be reached without disruption to student learning.
What Could Happen
Job action could take different forms, including:
- Work-to-rule: Teachers limit their duties to instruction and activities that take place only during school hours.
- Rotating strikes: Classes are cancelled and schools closed at specific sites or on specific days.
- Full strike or lockout: All classes are cancelled and schools closed. Students do not attend school in person or online. No extracurricular activities, field trips or excursions will be taking place.
