School Resumes Wednesday, October 29, 2025

Update – October 25, 2025

With the impending passage of Bill 2, Back to School Act, by the Government of Alberta, which will end the teacher strike and provincial lockout, school will resume for students on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. This includes school bus transportation service.

While this return to school may not be under circumstances that everyone had hoped for, we remain focused on supporting students and re-establishing consistent learning routines. We look forward to welcoming students and our teachers back to their classrooms on Wednesday.

Premier Danielle Smith has shared this letter for parents.

Overview

Teachers across Alberta are currently in provincial bargaining. Negotiations are taking place between the Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA), representing Alberta’s teachers and school administrators, and the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), representing the Government of Alberta and all public, separate, and Francophone school divisions.

Individual school divisions, including Pembina Hills School Division, are not directly involved in this process. Items such as teacher salaries and benefits are negotiated centrally at the provincial level.

We deeply value the contributions of teachers and all staff in supporting student learning, and we respect the provincial bargaining process. We remain hopeful that an agreement can be reached without disruption to student learning.
