In response to the Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) provincial strike, the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA) has given notice of a reactive province-wide teacher lockout. The lockout will begin at 1:00 p.m. on October 9, 2025.
What does a teacher lockout mean?
A lockout is when TEBA legally prevents teachers from working for legal and strategic reasons in bargaining.
What does this mean for students?
A lockout does not change school closures; students are still not attending school.
There is no additional impact on Pembina Hills support staff. TEBA has indicated that negotiations will continue throughout the labour action to ensure students can return to the classroom as soon as possible.
We will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available to parents through SchoolMessenger, posted on the division’s Labour Action webpage and on division social media channels.
