Work is progressing well on Phase One of the multi-year modernization and right-sizing project at Barrhead Composite High School (BCHS). Crews are steadily moving through the first phase, and we’re already seeing exciting progress take shape! These upgrades will create safer, brighter, and more modern learning spaces for students and staff.
Phase One Recap
Phase One began in July 2025 and is expected to be completed in late spring 2026. This phase includes the east gym expansion, utility, mechanical, electrical, and roof work to the mezzanine, former changeroom and fitness (fit pit) areas, junior high classrooms, and work on the senior high Construction Lab.
Highlights from the past few months include:
- Major demolition and renovation work continues in the east Junior High wing, the Senior High Construction Lab, the east gym, and the fitness center (Fit Pit).
- The foundation for the east gymnasium expansion is complete, and work has begun on the next stages of constructing the new wall.
- The courtyard is being reshaped, including new access routes and the removal of older structures.
- Crews are installing upgraded electrical, mechanical, and safety systems to support modern learning environments throughout Phase 1 areas.
- Several areas have completed hazardous-material removal, allowing reconstruction to begin safely.

- Construction of walls, framing, and new layout spaces in the east junior high wing
