Citizenship Award Winner—Abel Cross

Abel is a grade 5 student at École Westlock Elementary School. He was nominated for a Citizenship Award by his teacher, Kass Roberts. 

Abel exemplifies the qualities of a responsible student. He diligently completes his classroom job without requiring any prompting, ensures he catches up on any missed work, and keeps his desk tidy and materials organized showcasing his commitment to his duties and learning. His preparedness and dedication to putting his best foot forward make him a reliable and responsible member of his classroom and school.

Beyond his responsibility, Abel’s kindness shines brightly. His warm personality and sense of humour make him a cherished friend to all. He has a remarkable ability to uplift others with a joke and is always attentive to the needs of his classmates. Whether it’s offering a helping hand with supplies, patiently explaining instructions, or simply lending a listening ear, Abel’s thoughtful actions and encouraging words consistently make our classroom a more welcoming and supportive place for everyone.

Abel also possesses the courage to do what is right. He is not afraid to stand up for fairness and kindness, whether it involves gently reminding a peer of classroom expectations or speaking out against unkind behaviour. Abel has a strong sense of integrity and actively seeks to make situations better when he perceives unfairness. He sets a commendable example by taking ownership of his mistakes, making amends, and encouraging others to do the same.

The school board is pleased to present Abel with the Citizenship Award in recognition of the positive contributions he makes in his school and community.
