Citizenship Award Winner — Amy Donkers

June 16th, 2023

Amy is a Grade 12 student graduating from Barrhead Composite High School. She has been chosen as a recipient of the Pembina Hills Gr. 12 Citizenship Award.

Amy has demonstrated responsibility in both school and in her job. She stays on top of her school work, was a leader for her basketball team and at her job. As captain of her basketball team, she presented a positive and respectful attitude and good sportsmanship in leading her team, representing her school and the school division. Her positivity went beyond the court and into her job as she greeted her customers with a smile and ensured they had a positive experience.

Teachers can rely on Amy to get her school work done on time; her coaches could depend on her to keep her team organized, prepared and uplifted by leading warm-ups or initiating plays on the court. Her employers can also count on her to be punctual, prepared and willing to do the work that needs to be done. She also enjoys helping others, often volunteering, particularly within the basketball community, from reffing to coaching other younger players. She has consistently worked towards her goals and her hardwork and determination have allowed her to gain acceptance into nursing school. Amy sets a great example for others in what it means to be a good citizen.

The Board of Trustees is pleased to present Amy with a Citizenship Award in recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community.

Congratulations Amy!
