Citizenship Award Winner — Barbie

June 26th, 2023

Barbie is a Grade 8 student at Sunny Bend Colony School. She was nominated for a Citizenship Award by all of the school staff at the school.

Barbie is described as a responsible, positive and helpful student. As an older student in a multigrade classroom, Barbie fully embraces her role as a leader and always encourages her classmates to fulfill their responsibilities. Barbie frequently goes above and beyond what is required of her, especially in the care and upkeep of the school. She recognizes that the school is an essential part of the colony and she feels a strong sense of duty in supporting the operation of it.

Barbie also demonstrates responsibility with her strong work ethic and the way she completes her assigned tasks. She routinely finishes her work to a high standard, then proceeds to help either the teacher or her classmates in any way she can.

Barbie is also a caring individual, always ready to help and support others. Barbie not only gets done what she is assigned to do, but she regularly asks what extra things she can do to help. When doing cleaning jobs at the end of the day, Barbie will get her job done and search for others that need to be done including volunteering to take on tasks for students who are away. Barbie also regularly babysits in the colony which not only allows parents to get their own tasks done, but it also gives them a much-needed break.

Barbie is excited to learn, regardless of what is being taught. She always has her hand up and will contribute to discussions. When doing hands-on activities, Barbie’s positive outlook, focus and support of others gets everyone engaged in what they are learning and her group will complete assignments fully and with excitement.

The school board is pleased to present Barbie with a Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community.

Congratulations Barbie!
