Citizenship Award Winner — Courteney Harrison

June 16th, 2023

Courteney is a Grade 12 student graduating from Barrhead Composite High School. She has been chosen as a recipient of the Pembina Hills Gr. 12 Citizenship Award.

Courteney demonstrates responsibility in school, her roles as a dance teacher, lifeguard, babysitter and more. She has high standards in taking care of and teaching others.

As the oldest child in her family, caring for younger siblings and cousins has shown Courteney what it means to put others’ needs before your own wants. She is supportive, at home and at school, including helping others in reaching their own goals. Courteney is a positive influence, and as she has grown older, she has experienced the power of having a positive attitude and how it can influence all aspects of life, from school to sports and everywhere in between. She is kind, and has excellent listening skills, showing how much she cares about others and values their opinions and she notes she learns a lot simply by listening. She is dependable and has demonstrated how honesty builds trust, integrity and self-respect. Courteney has the courage to own up to her actions, even in tough situations. She shows respect for others, regardless of their age or ability and has developed a genuine appreciation for the unique qualities everyone can possess and wants others to succeed.

Her younger self strived to pass all her swimming lessons and become a swim instructor and lifeguard, and she succeeded. She also set a goal for herself to attend university and her hard work has paid off as she has been accepted into her university of choice. We know Courteney will continue doing great things!

The Board of Trustees is pleased to present Courteney with a Citizenship Award in recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community.

Congratulations Courteney!
