Citizenship Award Winner—Danica Olthuis

June 14th, 2021

Danica Olthuis is a Grade 3 student at Neerlandia Public Christian School. She was nominated for the Citizenship Award by Teacher Katlyn Wierenga.

Danica helps and supports others in her school, often messages to the office or library when times are busy in the classroom. She helps guide other students in the classroom when the teacher is unavailable. Wierenga says, “We can always count on Danica to offer support to others when needed.”

Danica is regularly visiting with teachers and program assistants in the hallway. She is always checking in with other students and staff to see how they and their family are doing. Danica always takes the time to listen to others and show kindness.

Danica works well with anyone in a group. She shows patience and respects others when projects can become difficult or when opinions differ. Danica never overshadows her partner but instead encourages others to contribute their own ideas to the work.

The school board is pleased to present Danica with the Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community. Congratulations!
