Citizenship Award Winner—Dorothy Johnston

June 18th, 2025

The school board is proud to recognize Dorothy Johnston as a recipient of a Pembina Hills Citizenship Award. She is a grade 8 student at R.F. Staples Secondary School (RFS) and was nominated by her teacher, Jessica Stevens.

Dorothy exemplifies what it means to be a responsible, goal-oriented, and dependable student leader. In physical education, Dorothy consistently demonstrates outstanding responsibility—arriving to class prepared, showing initiative, and encouraging her peers. Her leadership extends to the student council, where she plays an active role in organizing events and supporting school-wide initiatives with reliability and enthusiasm.

Dorothy is also a student who sets high standards for herself and works diligently to achieve her goals. Her determination is especially evident in her involvement with the Terry Fox Run, where she was the top fundraiser at RFS two consecutive years. Her passion, focus, and dedication to a greater cause inspire both students and staff.

Highly dependable in everything she does, Dorothy can always be counted on to follow through—whether it’s leading by example in class, stepping up to help without being asked, or carrying out student council responsibilities with care and consistency.

Dorothy is a true role model whose actions reflect a strong commitment to her school and community. The school board is pleased to present Dorothy with a Citizenship Award in recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community.

Congratulations Dorothy!
