Citizenship Award Winner — Emily Hamer

June 8th, 2023

Emily Hamer is a remarkable candidate for the PHSD Citizenship Award, considering her dedication and hard work in a multitude of areas.

As a Ukrainian dancer, she embodies discipline, patience, and a growth mindset. Additionally, she is a dependable individual who consistently goes above and beyond, and has exceptional babysitting skills, often leaving the home in better condition than when she arrived. During her time as a dance teacher for children, Emily ensures their safety and well-being by creating a comfortable environment where students can make mistakes and ask questions without hesitation.

Besides being a dance teacher, Emily has volunteered at a local library, where she assists senior citizens with tech issues, and worked at a vet clinic, where she was willing to step outside of her comfort zone to get the job done. Currently, she is employed in a stable, where she completes her designated work and offers to assist with extra duties. Each experience has taught Emily valuable lessons, which she has applied to her future roles. Moreover, Emily is a charitable person who donates to Stollery Children’s Hospital and plans to volunteer at either a senior center or animal shelter. Her ultimate goal is to inspire younger generations to become exemplary citizens in their everyday lives.

Emily’s teachers describe her as a diligent and friendly student who takes responsibility for her own learning by adhering to timelines, working ahead, communicating effectively with teachers, and asking insightful questions. There was a consensus among her teachers that she is a motivated student who consistently goes the extra mile, which is reflected in her job, volunteer experiences, and passion for dance.

The Board of Trustees is pleased to present Emily with a Citizenship Award in recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community.

Congratulations Emily!
