Citizenship Award Winner—Enzzo Santos

May 17th, 2022

Enzzo Santos is a Grade 3 student at Neerlandia Public Christian School. He was nominated for the Citizenship Award by Teacher Cinnamon Thompson and Program Assistant Char Nanninga.

Thompson says, “Enzzo loves his classmates and gets along well with everyone. He helps and supports others, and is always the first to volunteer to help anyone in need in our classroom.” For example, if a peer drops his pencil case or desk drawer, Enzzo will offer to lend a hand. If the program assistant needs help placing out books or can’t find a dry-erase marker, Enzzo eagerly offers to help.

During competitive moments at school, Enzzo tries hard to win but never lets that get in the way of encouraging his peers. He will check in on his peers throughout the day. If he notices anyone is emotional, quiet, or hurt, he will go up to them and quietly ask if they’re okay. He really looks out for his classmates in a lot of ways. He shows concern for others and has a very selfless attitude.

With a strict school schedule, Enzzo knows what he needs to get done every day and completes those things successfully. He is dependable and is always one of the first to notice when something has been forgotten. Thompson says, “If something needs to get done around the classroom, Enzzo is someone I ask because I know he is always happy to help and will do a good job.”

Enzzo has an encouraging spirit and often says things to make others smile, including his teachers. Enzzo has shown a lot of perseverance with his daily tasks and has grown exponentially. He knows what is expected of him and ensures they get done without complaining. Thompson says, “I am very proud of Enzzo’s attitude this year and we truly believe so much of the growth we’ve seen academically is due to his willingness to work towards his goals and his positive attitude.” Nanninga says, “When Enzzo walks into a room, he has the gift of lighting up the room with his presence. He has a great sense of humor and makes us smile and laugh every day.”

The school board is pleased to present Enzzo with the Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions he makes in his school and community. Congratulations!
