Citizenship Award Winner — Judie Walter

June 26th, 2023

Judie is a Grade 8 student at Pibroch Colony School. She was nominated for a Citizenship Award by her teacher Marquessa Heaton.

Judie has always been a responsible, kind and compassionate student. She respects all school rules and treats the students and staff with care and respect. As she became one of the oldest students in the school, staff have noticed an increase in her sense of responsibility. She shows leadership in her role as job task manager, ensuring students complete their tasks thoroughly and that they do not rush. Judie also takes on the responsibility to monitor cleaning equipment and ensures that broken equipment gets repaired.

Judie is also a very helpful and caring individual and shows both students and staff kindness, compassion and care for their well-being.  She brings a cheerful smile in the morning, greeting others with joy. She is eager to help her fellow classmates with learning difficult concepts and encourages them to learn. She is often asked by her teachers to complete special tasks and is always willing to help and does so with a positive attitude. Judie’s efforts to prepare the fifteen-year-old graduation binders for each grade 9 student shows how much she cares and wants to make them special for these students. Judie also volunteers to read to the Kindergarten students and they quite enjoy having her read stories to them. She helps with keeping order in the classroom if teachers momentarily step away,  is honest and trustworthy and regularly demonstrates her ability to respect school rules without direct supervision.

Her teachers can depend on her to stay on task, complete her work with care and precision and have seen how willing she is to help clean up materials after a class, or prepare materials before class starts. She is also a role model in sportsmanship and is able to lighten any situation with jokes or encouragement.

The school board is pleased to present Judie with a Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community.

Congratulations Judie!
