Citizenship Award Winner—Keira Brouwer

June 14th, 2021

Keira Brouwer is a Grade 9 student at Neerlandia Public Christian School. She was nominated for the Citizenship Award by Teacher Howard Gelderman.

Keira demonstrates responsibility in many ways. Throughout Grade 7 and most of Grade 8, she helped run the school’s concession, often going above and beyond by covering for other students who could not make their shift. Keira was diligent, ensuring the money exchanges were accurate and keeping appropriate order and control in selling products to her peers. Presently, Keira is helping to plan the Grade 9 graduation ceremonies; not an easy task during a pandemic.

Keira is always ready and willing to lend a helping hand wherever it is needed. She is quick to help and support others, including classmates with any academic questions. Whenever there’s a task to be done or assistance needed, Keira is one of the first to step up and offer her assistance. Her attention to detail helps teachers get through tasks and her help is always appreciated.

Keira is always ready to try new activities. Whether it’s a new game in Phys. Ed. or an academic assignment, Keira is up for the challenge and her positive attitude is contagious. When teachers are trying to transition to a new activity or new idea in the school, Keira is the first to offer support and be willing to try the new activity out.

Keira works towards the goals she has set in several areas. In all subject areas and through focused attention and diligent effort, she has maintained exceptional academic standing in all subjects. She has also achieved her goals of participating in extracurricular activities such as playing on volleyball and badminton teams over the past several years. In addition, Keira is an enthusiastic member of the school music program.

Keira shows concern for others by contributing to community building. Last year during online schooling, Keira regularly submitted positive messages to her classmates on the stream page of Google classroom. She also submitted pictures of wildlife encouraging others to do likewise.

The school board is pleased to present Keira with the Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community. Congratulations!
