Citizenship Award Winner—Kella Valentine

June 14th, 2021

Kella Valentine is a Grade 6 student at Neerlandia Public Christian School. She was nominated for the Citizenship Award by Teacher Sonja De Waal.

Kella enjoys being in school. Her positive and bubbling personality towards school work and friends is contagious. Both staff and students appreciate her attitude. Kella has a very positive attitude towards school and life in general. De Waal says, “For example, she never complains about the chosen gym activity for the day. She just embraces it and “goes with the flow”, even though we all know that Swedish Dodgeball is her favourite activity!” Kella works well in a group and has the ability to change the attitudes towards the project within her group. Her bright and contagious smile definitely expresses her positive nature.

Kella displays kindness to others and gets along with all of her classmates. Her friendly and kind demeanor towards others is visible in class. This wonderful asset also makes her a safe option for other students during recess breaks. If someone feels a bit down and out of place in a friend group, Kella is always available. If someone is injured in gym class or if someone seems sad, Kella is always the first one to respond, by offering empathy, fetching an ice pack, or a listening ear.

Kella works hard to achieve her goals and always strives to do her best on every project and assignment. In math, she is willing to ask questions to fully understand the concepts. During online learning she often joins the optional small group meets to discuss more difficult questions. She always wants to do her best, and is not shy to ask for extra help.

The school board is pleased to present Kella with the Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community. Congratulations!
