Citizenship Award Winner—Mackenzie De Vries

May 29th, 2020

Mackenzie De Vries is a Grade 7 student at Neerlandia Public Christian School. She was nominated for the Citizenship Award by Teacher Lise Wruk.

Mackenzie demonstrates responsibility in many ways at her school. This year she joined the student council team. Some of her responsibilities include: helping in the concession, assisting with fundraising, and creating events for students to participate in. She is always quick to offer a lending hand, and does so in a positive manner.

Mackenzie displays kindness to others, and is always willing to assist other students with instructions on how to do something. She is also very encouraging to others. When there is a conflict, instead of taking a side, she tries to help both sides resolve the situation.

Mackenzie is driven to do her very best and works towards her goals. When she is asked to do an assignment, she takes the time to assess the task and then takes it on like a personal challenge. This year she joined both the volleyball team and the basketball team, which challenged her to learn the skills of the sport, and understand the importance of working alongside others.

The school board is pleased to present Mackenzie with the Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community. Congratulations!
