Citizenship Award Winner—Sage Sekulich

June 17th, 2021

Sage Sekulich is a Grade 10 student at R. F. Staples Secondary School. She was nominated for the Citizenship Award by Teacher Laleyna Gasse.

Sage demonstrates responsibility in her education, by following up on missed assignments or  marks that were not what she hoped for. Sage always makes sure to check with her teachers if she is going to be away to get work in advance, and make arrangements for any late assessments prior to being away.

Sage maintained a positive attitude last semester, despite the restrictions placed on her school. When students moved to remote learning, Sage would sign in early and make the best of the situation despite the apprehension of learning online.

Sage is kind by nature, but goes out of her way to show kindness to those around her who may be left out. Sage is often paired with quiet or shy students as she has the ability to make them feel safe to share their ideas, while still challenging them. She genuinely wants to see others succeed.

The school board is pleased to present Sage with the Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community. Congratulations!
