Citizenship Award Winner — Samantha Pederson

June 28th, 2023

Samantha is a Grade 6 student at Dunstable School. She was nominated for a Citizenship Award by her teacher Melissa Beattie.

Mrs. Beattie describes Samantha as a great student who always gives 110%. She is a leader, a hardworking individual, always prepared for class and the extracurricular activities she’s a part of and she sets an outstanding example for those around her.

Samantha is very committed and involved in school activities. She goes above and beyond in all that she does and demonstrates her leadership capacity in many ways such as being on the students union, serving as a kindergarten buddy and is an exemplary leader both in and out of the classroom.  As a member of her school’s Students’ Union, she actively attends meetings and is responsible in her role.

Samantha is not one who is afraid to take risks and is always willing to try new things.  She has proven time and time again that she has the ability to learn from her mistakes, actively and positively seeking solutions to problems or issues.

Samantha’s peers look to her for help in and outside of the classroom. She has routinely volunteered as a big buddy and role model for many Kindergarten students this year and was instrumental in helping prepare for school-wide events such as the Christmas Concert and Spring Tea.

Samantha is a goal-oriented student and is always working towards classroom and personal goals. She asks questions, studies for upcoming tests and does not give up when something doesn’t go her way the first time. This year, she participated in various extracurricular activities including all poster and writing contests and school sports teams. Once her mind is set on something, she completes it or participates with the highest standard.

The school board is pleased to present Samantha with a Citizenship Award for recognition of the positive contributions she makes in her school and community.

Congratulations Samantha!
