Daren Toivonen is a Counsellor at Barrhead Composite High School and has been supporting students for the past 4 years.

Daren and her dog Gunnar have been a tremendous emotional support to all BCHS students. They regularly welcome staff and students and enjoy showing new students around. She also plays a huge role in the grade 7 orientation, welcoming students and making them feel at ease at BCHS.

Daren always takes the time to help students with their issues, no matter how big or small, and has a way of making students feel comfortable speaking with her. She makes many mornings available for students before school starts and her office is often full of students who want to spend their lunch time with her. 

Daren always has a smile on her face and can be counted on to help or assist when needed. Many a crisis has been avoided because of her influence and expertise. 

Daren also volunteers her time whether its making and serving pancakes to the students, helping with the spring barbecue or chaperoning students on ski trips. Daren can be counted on to go the extra mile helping staff and students.

Daren is a valuable asset to BCHS in every capacity and is truly deserving of this Exemplary Contractor Award!
