Gillian Bourgeois has been teaching at École Barrhead Elementary School for almost 8 years and is currently teaching both English and French Kindergarten. 

Gillian is a gentle, kind and caring teacher who spends a tremendous amount of time and energy on how to best support the learning needs of all of her students. She incorporates much play-based learning into her instruction and carefully considers how to include her students’ learning styles in her lessons. She is always looking for new and interesting materials to add to her students’ learning and makes sure to include lots of fun in each day at school. 

She is a true team player who listens to and enlists the help of both parents and support professionals to carve the best path for her students. Gillian is very respectful and aware of what her Educational Assistants bring to the team and advocates for them to be adequately supported to ensure the student receives the most organic team approach possible. Gillian also demonstrates a deep desire to continually learn and increase the strategies contained in her instructional toolkit. 

Gillian teaches with the biggest, kindest heart and cares deeply for all her students. Her students light up when they see her and she shows genuine delight in listening to all the stories the students are excited to share.
