Pembina Hills announces new Superintendent

February 2nd, 2024

The Pembina Hills School Division Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Brett Cooper as the new Superintendent of Schools, effective March 1, 2024.

Brett began working in Pembina Hills School Division in the fall of 2002 as Associate Principal of Fort Assiniboine School. From there, he spent seven years at R. F. Staples Secondary School as the Principal and the following six years at the Alberta Distance Learning Centre (ADLC). He took on the role of Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources at the Division Office in 2016 where he has been since.

Brett completed his Bachelor of Education Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alberta in 1991 and a Masters Degree in 2001 through the University of Lethbridge.

Brett and his wife Sherry live south of Barrhead on an acreage they love developing where they enjoy having their daughters and other family visit. Both Brett and Sherry enjoy spending time outdoors camping, hunting, fishing, skiing and everything in between.

We look forward to Brett taking on his new role and continuing the focus on improving student learning in all of our classrooms. Brett is excited about the opportunity and looks forward to continuing to build upon the relationships he has built over the last two decades.

Congratulations Brett!
