On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are pleased to provide an update on our long-term leadership planning for the division. As we prepare for the retirement of our current Superintendent of Schools on August 31, 2026, trustees have prioritized a comprehensive recruitment process to identify our next leader. To lead this important work, we have formally engaged Mr. Brian Callaghan of the Public School Boards’ Association of Alberta (PSBAA) as our Executive Search Consultant.
We are confident in Mr. Callaghan’s ability to guide us through this transition, given his extensive professional scope within the Alberta education system. His credentials include 25 years of service as an Alberta Superintendent, during which time he also served as the President of the College of Alberta School Superintendents (CASS). Furthermore, his leadership experience extends to his tenure as the Executive Director of the PSBAA and over 14 years as an Educational Consultant with both the ASBA and PSBAA. This depth of experience ensures that our search will be handled with an expert understanding of the provincial landscape and the legislative requirements unique to our role.
This search reflects our Board’s focus on excellence, accountability, and a clear vision for the long-term future of our rural division.
We look forward to working closely with Mr. Callaghan to select a Superintendent who reflects our core values and will lead Pembina Hills confidently into its next chapter. This transition is an opportunity to build upon our successes and provide the stable, visionary leadership our students, staff, and families deserve.
Throughout this process, we remain committed to transparency and open communication. Further updates will be shared as the work progresses.
